<p>The Minnesota Vikings are placing veteran running back <a data-in-app-uri="thescore:///nfl/players/74334" href="https://thescore.com/nfl/players/74334">Aaron Jones</a> on injured reserve, a source told <a href="https://x.com/AdamSchefter/status/1968058155486810184">ESPN's Adam Schefter</a>.</p><p>Jones, who's dealing with a hamstring injury, had already been ruled out for Sunday's game against the Cincinnati Bengals, but he'll now miss at least four contests after landing on IR.</p><p>The 30-year-old topped 1,000 rushing yards during his first year with the Vikings in 2024. However, he didn't have a big impact on the team's first two games this season and has registered only 13 carries.</p><div class="the-score-article-ad-unit"></div><p>The Vikings have a bye in Week 6, so Jones could return against the Los Angeles Chargers on Oct. 23.</p><p>With Jones sidelined, <a data-in-app-uri="thescore:///nfl/players/174345" href="https://thescore.com/nfl/players/174345">Jordan Mason</a> will headline the Vikings' depth chart. <p><a data-in-app-uri="thescore:///nfl/players/161667" href="https://thescore.com/nfl/players/161667">Micah Parsons</a> criticized the Cowboys' offseason behavior following his standout debut with the Packers, suggesting his immediate impact in Green Bay could've been even greater had Dallas not dragged out their contract saga.</p><p>"These last six months were super draining, super toxic for everyone," Parsons said after Sunday's 27-13 triumph over the Detroit Lions, according to <a href="https://x.com/mattschneidman/status/1964843247651471659">The Athletic's Matt Schneidman</a>. "It's something that I don't think no player should have to go through. Players' faith should be decided earlier. His other pressures resulted in a loss of two yards for Detroit and an interception. The 26-year-old played only 45% of Green Bay's defensive snaps while still dealing with back issues.</p><p>The four-time Pro Bowler established himself as one of the NFL's premier defenders across four seasons in Dallas. However, a contract dispute between the 2021 Defensive Rookie of the Year and the Cowboys stole headlines this year, resulting in owner Jerry Jones granting Parsons' trade request and sending him to the Packers a week before the start of the regular season.</p><p>"I'm just happy that's behind," Parsons said. "(The Packers) embraced me. They believe in my talents. They believed in me, and I'm just gonna give these guys everything I have because I know what's at stake and I know what they gave up for me to be here. I'm going to do what it takes for us to win."</p><p>The Packers - who parted with two first-round picks and defensive lineman <a data-in-app-uri="thescore:///nfl/players/75148" href="https://thescore.com/nfl/players/75148">Kenny Clark</a> in the trade - rewarded Parsons with a four-year, $188-million extension after acquiring him.</p><p>Parsons initially requested a trade out of Dallas on Aug. 1. The Cowboys didn't deal him until Aug. 28, but Jones and Co. actually decided to part ways with their former first-round pick at least a week before training camp in July, according to <a href="https://x.com/NFLonFOX/status/1964724922682613916">Fox Sports' Jay Glazer</a>.</p>

<p>San Francisco 49ers running back <a data-in-app-uri="thescore:///nfl/players/85079" href="https://thescore.com/nfl/players/85079">Christian McCaffrey</a> is trending toward playing Sunday against the Seattle Seahawks, sources told <a href="https://x.com/RapSheet/status/1964414088034836697">Ian Rapoport of NFL Network</a>.</p><p>Coach Kyle Shanahan announced Friday that McCaffrey was questionable for the matchup due to a calf injury that forced him to miss Friday's practice. The star tailback was also a limited participant during Thursday's session.</p><p>But barring any additional setbacks, it's expected he'll take the field for his team's season opener, according to Rapoport.</p><div class="the-score-article-ad-unit"></div><p>The 49ers elevated wide receiver Russell Gage and linebacker Curtis Robinson from the practice squad ahead of the game, but didn't activate a running back, another sign they're optimistic about McCaffrey's status.</p><p>McCaffrey himself said he feels good ahead of Week 1.</p><p>"Nothing serious," McCaffrey said about his injury, according to <a href="https://x.com/i/status/1964078779266928888">Vic Tafur of The Athletic</a>. "I feel great about where I'm at. Unfortunately, with the injury history that I have, sometimes when you don't practice, things get blown out of proportion. Like I said, I feel great."</p><p>McCaffrey added, "I felt like it was the smart thing to do and not finish the practice because I've been there before."</p><p>A calf issue also bothered McCaffrey last season, as the 2023 Offensive Player of the Year was limited to four appearances in 2024. When healthy, McCaffrey has been an integral part of the 49ers' offense.</p><p>"I forgot about last year, I forgot about the year before that, and the year before that," McCaffrey said. "I'm focused on this week and playing Seattle."</p><p>San Francisco also rosters running backs <a data-in-app-uri="thescore:///nfl/players/174076" href="https://thescore.com/nfl/players/174076">Brian Robinson</a>, <a data-in-app-uri="thescore:///nfl/players/199986" href="https://thescore.com/nfl/players/199986">Isaac Guerendo</a>, and fifth-round rookie <a data-in-app-uri="thescore:///nfl/players/210225" href="https://thescore.com/nfl/players/210225">Jordan James</a>. He also finished the season with 17 quarterback hits.</p><p>Smith, who turns 33 on Monday, last earned a Pro Bowl berth in 2022 - the third of his career - as a member of the Minnesota Vikings.</p><div class="the-score-article-ad-unit"></div><p>The Eagles will be Smith's sixth NFL team.
