Gareth Bale's agent says client is 'complete opposite' of Cristiano Ronaldo
Gareth Bale has certainly progressed at Real Madrid since his move from Tottenham Hotspur in 2013.
He is a stronger, quicker, and all-round more physical presence in Los Blancos' attack, and a lot of his new and improved attributes have the hallmarks of his teammate Cristiano Ronaldo.
Don't expect them to be sneaking off for a swift half-pint after work though.
"They don't go out eating every night together, but it's fine. There's no hatred there," Bale's agent Jonathan Barnett told Stuart James of the Guardian.
"Gareth is a quiet guy. They're complete opposites. But I think Gareth can learn a little bit from Ronaldo as well, interacting maybe a little bit. But he wants his own life and he lives it."
The 26-year-old does have some sponsorship deals outside the game, but his main focus is on continuing to improve as a footballer.
"Gareth is a great footballer, he doesn't want anything more. He has some very good endorsements but his whole life is to be the best footballer in the world."
Bale's celebrity presence is quite subdued, while a search on the internet for "Cristiano Ronaldo" is probably equally likely to spring up pictures of him cavorting around in tight underpants as it is with a ball at his feet.
"I don't think he wants to be the best model in the world or the best underwear seller. That’s not him."
The Welshman is currently on cloud nine after securing his country's route to the Euro 2016 finals in France, and will link up with his colleague Ronaldo again when Real host Levante on October 17th.
