Erik ten Hag plans on continuing in his role as Manchester United coach despite interest from Bayern Munich, according to Rob Dawson of ESPN.

The German giants reached out to Ten Hag's representatives to gauge how he felt about succeeding Thomas Tuchel this summer.

But the Dutch coach reportedly prefers to continue as United's manager despite uncertainty over his future after a poor 2023-24 campaign with the Red Devils.

Bayern have been searching for a new manager since announcing in February that Tuchel will leave at the end of the season.

However, the Bundesliga side has failed to lure its top targets so far, with Bayer Leverkusen boss Xabi Alonso, Austria coach Ralf Rangnick, and Julian Nagelsmann reportedly rejecting Bayern's advances.

Bayern have also shown interest in signing Julen Lopetegui, but the former Spain and Real Madrid coach is on the verge of signing with West Ham United, according to David Ornstein of The Athletic.

Ten Hag is under contract at United until 2025, but a final decision over his future is likely to be made in the coming months by new co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe and the club's football leadership group, Dawson adds. His future could be decided after the FA Cup final when Manchester United take on rivals Manchester City.

United are considering various candidates to replace Ten Hag, including Tuchel, who reportedly wants to return to the Premier League after a brief spell at Chelsea.

Manchester United are in eighth place in the Premier League with four games remaining.
