Rashford signs new Manchester United deal
Teenager Marcus Rashford's meteoric rise jumped another rung Monday, as the 18-year-old striker signed a new contract with Manchester United.
Rashford's new deal will see him at Old Trafford until at least June 2020 with an option to extend for an additional year, a statement on United's website announced.
"Marcus is a naturally talented footballer with great potential. He has taken his chances well and has integrated into the first team very quickly. I am delighted that Marcus has signed a new contract, he is at the right club to continue his development," executive vice chairman Ed Woodward said in a statement.
"He is still very young and we need to be patient but he is developing in the right way and we believe he has a great future ahead of him."
A near-unknown at the start of the season, a slew of injuries forced Louis van Gaal's hand, offering Rashford his debut in a Europa League tilt with FC Midtjylland. He scored twice in a stunning 90-minute performance before pairing that with a second brace three days later in his first Premier League contest, nabbing Man of the Match honours in a 3-2 victory over Arsenal.
The United academy product didn't stop there, scoring eight times in 18 matches in all competitions and prompting Roy Hodgson to hand the teenage talent his England debut in Friday's Euro 2016 tuneup against Australia.

That debut exceeded expectations, as Rashford scored 135 seconds in to become England's youngest player to score on his England debut.
Rashford's performance will likely see him earn a spot in Hodgson's 23-man squad when it's announced Tuesday.
"I am delighted to have signed a new contract," the striker said. "I have always been a Manchester United fan, so to be playing in the first team really is a dream come true. I am grateful for having the chance to prove myself.
"To be able to play football at the biggest club in the world means everything to me and my family."
