Paddy McNair and Donald Love weren't in Jose Mourinho's plans.
On Thursday, Sunderland confirmed the double signing of McNair and Love from Manchester United for a fee of £5.5 million, as the two youngsters put pen to paper on four-year contracts and became David Moyes' second and third acquisitions since the Scottish manager arrived at the Stadium of Light.

McNair, 21, can operate as a centre-back, a right-back, a wing-back, and a central midfielder. He tallied eight Premier League appearances last season before representing Northern Ireland at Euro 2016.
Love, also 21, is a right-back who spent part of last season on loan at Wigan Athletic and made his senior debut for United in February.
"Paddy is a young, athletic player who is improving all the time," Moyes said. "He has experience for Northern Ireland and we want to bring as many international players to the club as we can. Donald comes highly recommended and is another young player who I hope can develop and improve here.
"I want to add some young players to the squad as well as some senior players and both of them have got really good potential and the opportunity to improve. I want to bring in players who are here for the long term as well as the short and hopefully these two are here for the long term."
