Report: Chelsea to offer Mourinho a new contract

Chelsea are reportedly eager to extend Jose Mourinho's contract following the team's Premier League-clinching on the weekend.

The newly crowned champions of England have begun the negotiation process with Mourinho's representatives in an effort extend him past his current deal, which expires in 2017, according to Matt Law of The Telegraph.

Mourinho, who returned to Stamford Bridge in 2013 following spells with Inter Milan and Real Madrid, appears to have resolved whatever issues he and owner Roman Abramovic had during his first go-around with Chelsea.

The Portguese boss departed the club after several confrontations spelled the end of his three-year reign. His second time in charge is obviously a much improved situation as Mourinho was full of praise for the Russian billionaire after the title-winning victory against Crystal Palace.

“I stay here until Mr Abramovich wants me,” Mourinho said. “The day he tells me to go, I go. He is the man who won every title at Chelsea – some players did some, others did others. Same with managers. Mr Abramovich won it all. If he has replicas, he needs a big house.”

It's taken Mourinho a year to capture silverware with Chelsea, but the London-based club will finish the season with a pair of trophies after adding the League Cup to their display case to go along with the Premier League trophy.
