Report: Manchester United's Angel Di Maria to complete £45M move to PSG this weekend
Angel Di Maria is reportedly set to complete a £45-million move from Manchester United to French giants Paris Saint-Germain this weekend, according to Mark Ogden of the Telegraph.
The Argentine winger joined the English club last summer for a British record £59.7-million fee, but flamed out in the second half of the season after a stunning start to life at Old Trafford, prompting his reported exit.
"Negotiations are in tandem but as Manchester United and Paris Saint Germain are both big clubs, that can be difficult," PSG boss Laurent Blanc told reporters. "But we feel we are close to the end."
United manager Louis van Gaal deflected questions about a potential sale, saying he didn't even know where Di Maria is at the moment.
"I don’t want to answer that but you can keep asking," van Gaal told reporters, when asked about Di Maria's whereabouts. "Maybe you know where he is. I don’t know."
Di Maria is reportedly in Argentina awaiting a final decision, which is expected sometime this weekend.
PSG was reported to have initially offered £28.5 million for the lanky midfielder, but United rejected the offer in the hopes of recouping significantly more of the fee it paid for the Argentine one year ago.
The potential sale of Di Maria could see Van Gaal turn to Barcelona winger Pedro as a replacement, with reports claiming the two clubs have met to discuss a potential move for the diminutive Spaniard.
