Daniel Amartey is crossing the North Sea.
On Monday, FC Copenhagen confirmed that an agreement was reached with Leicester City for the transfer of Daniel Amartey, who will move to King Power Stadium for a fee that, according to the Leicester Mercury, is believed to be around £5 million.
A few personal and minor details remain to be finalised.
From Copenhagen's official website:
We cannot turn down a transfer of this size because generally speaking, it is the best outcome for FC Copenhagen. We have been very happy to have Daniel here but it is part of our strategy as a club and a company to develop players to a level, where they get so attractive that clubs from the biggest leagues will buy them for large sums of money, says CEO Anders Horsholt about the transfer, which is one of the biggest in FC Copenhagen's history.
Amartey, 21, can operate as both a centre-back and a defensive midfielder, and he marks Leicester's second signing of the January transfer window after the Foxes acquired Demarai Gray from Birmingham City for a reported fee of £3.7 million.
As the Press Association explains, Amartey's arrival at Leicester is likely to trigger a loan move for Gokhan Inler, as the captain of Switzerland's national team is looking for increased playing time ahead of Euro 2016.
