Adil Nabi, the first-ever player contracted by a Premier League club to take up a loan in the Indian Super League, is heading to League One.
On Thursday, Peterborough United signed Nabi from West Bromwich Albion for an undisclosed fee, as the 21-year-old forward put pen to paper on a three-and-a-half-year contract with the Posh.
Nabi arrived at West Brom when he was only eight years old and was the Baggies' Young Player of the Season in 2014-15. He subsequently joined the Delhi Dynamos on a three-month deal and went on to score three goals for the Indian club.
"It has happened very quickly and this is a very important move for me," Nabi said. "It came to the stage where it is time for me to play some games and when Peterborough came calling, I jumped at the chance. The players that have come into this football club and gone on to do great things recently shows what can be done.
"I am excited to play some football now. I want to help the team get promoted into the Championship and score some goals along the way. The move happened very quickly, I got a phone call from the agent and he asked me my thoughts and I said 'go for it 100 percent.' This is a big club and I am delighted to be here.
"I have been at West Brom since I was six or seven years old so it is a big part of my family and my two younger brothers are also there so it is a big move but one that I am looking forward to."
Darragh MacAnthony, Peterborough's owner, was quick to take to Twitter after Nabi joined the Posh.
At Peterborough, Nabi will wear No. 42.
