Real Madrid star James Rodriguez 'pissed off' over lifestyle criticism
Real Madrid star midfielder James Rodriguez has had a rough season at the Santiago Bernabeu, being dropped to the bench amid rumours of disciplinary issues off the field.
Rodriguez has been criticised for a whole host of different issues, including his supposed penchant for a night out, apparent weight gain, and lack of playing form. The Colombian international has had enough of all the chatter, though, putting a stamp on things following a 1-1 draw against Real Betis.
"The talk really pisses me off," Rodriguez told reporters. "My people know how I act and that I always seek to take good care of myself. I'm a professional. What's been said about me going out a lot at night is a lie. It really pisses me off that people doubt me and say I'm looking fat."
Rodriguez most recently made headlines for a high-speed police chase, as the midfielder seemed to ignore an undercover officer asking him to pull over for speeding.
He had apparently gone faster than 200 km/h in his Audi R8, but Rodriguez says those reports are exaggerated.
"I wasn't going as fast as everyone says," Rodriguez explained. "I had music playing at a high volume. I'm not stupid; if I'd seen them I would have pulled over. I apologise. People make mistakes."
