Roberts to buy Maeda 'big' steak dinner after HR

Kenta Maeda is winning his fair share of bets, and eating a whole lot of meat, since coming over to the Los Angeles Dodgers from Japan.

During spring training, the right-hander won a steak dinner in a bet after hitting a batting practice home run off manager Dave Roberts. Maeda belted a home run in his MLB debut Wednesday, and he's about to eat on his manager's tab once again.

"He's used to Kobe beef," Roberts told reporters, who asked him if he would be buying Maeda dinner again after he hit the home run. "We're going to go tomahawk steak, something pretty big."

Maeda took San Diego Padres starter Andrew Cashner deep in the fourth inning and incited quite the reaction from his bench, most notably from Clayton Kershaw.

Along with his home run, Maeda shut out the Padres across six innings of work, pushing San Diego's scoreless streak to start the 2016 campaign to three games.
