Mets could use Syndergaard out of bullpen Tuesday
The New York Mets could turn to an unfamiliar face out of the bullpen on Tuesday when they square off against the Chicago White Sox.
Noah Syndergaard, who tossed just 34 pitches before being ejected from a contest Saturday for throwing behind Los Angeles Dodgers second baseman Chase Utley, could get a look.
"We're talking about possibly using him Tuesday, if we need any (innings) out of the bullpen," Collins told reporters. "Because he's still going to make his start on Friday."
The 23-year-old right-hander has never appeared in relief during the regular season in his major-league career, but did throw a hitless inning against the Dodgers in Game 5 of last year's NLDS.
Coming out of the 'pen doesn't seem to bother Syndergaard either.
I'm fresh. Can be available from pen. Just saying. #LGM

Syndergaard won't receive any further discipline for Saturday's incident, according to a report, so he could be available to pitch in relief if the Mets need him.
