With a big lead, the bottom of the seventh inning looked like things were about to unravel for Max Scherzer and the Washington Nationals. With two Philadelphia Phillies on base and none out, Scherzer threw a wild pitch that catcher Matt Wieters was initially unable to corral.
Both baserunners started to advance, but Wieters was too quick, gunning out Brock Stassi at third. Scherzer wouldn't escape unscathed, but things could have been worse.
