A food service employee at Comerica Park, home of the Detroit Tigers, has been fired after a video posted online showed him spitting on a pizza, according to Marc Daalder of the Detroit Free Press.

The identity of the fired worker wasn't revealed, but a co-worker of the individual told the Detroit Free Press he filmed the act to show it to management.

Quinell May, the employee who created the video, was also fired for leaving his position to contact management about the incident, which took place during Friday's game against the Kansas City Royals.

Detroit Sportservice, who is responsible for catering food at the ballpark, released a statement addressing the matter:

"As soon as we became aware through social media of potential food tampering, we immediately closed that food stand, disposed of all the product and contacted the Detroit Police Department. We have been told by police that the worker has been arrested and is in custody, pending charges.

"Food safety is our top priority and we will take any appropriate action necessary to protect our guests. The worker involved in this matter has been terminated. We intend to pursue all legal action to the fullest extent of the law."
