New York Yankees general manager Brian Cashman has been very impressed with Juan Soto's performance in his first season in pinstripes.

"We're really thankful and grateful that he's here and he's playing for us," Cashman said Wednesday, according to Mark W. Sanchez of the New York Post.

Soto has been an offensive force in 2024, slashing .319/.431/.564 with six home runs, 22 RBIs, and a 190 wRC+ across 25 games.

"He's been a driving force for us. It feels like his personality fits the team, our fan base. It's been a good run," Cashman said. "And he's obviously helped us hit that win column quite often so far."

The Yankees are off to a 17-8 start and lead the Baltimore Orioles by a half game for first place in the American League East.

Cashman acquired Soto from the San Diego Padres in a blockbuster trade last December.

The 25-year-old is in his final year of team control and is expected to be the marquee free agent in the offseason. Cashman has said on multiple occasions that he expects Soto to hit the open market and test free agency.
