Indians' Carrasco strikes out career-high 12 batters in 1st complete game
Houston, TX - Carlos Carrasco tossed his first career shutout as the Cleveland Indians blanked the Houston Astros, 2-0, in the third test of a four-game set.
Carrasco (8-5) struck out 12, scattered two hits and walked one for the Indians, who have won back-to-back games on the heels of a four-game losing streak.
Yan Gomes went 2-for-4 and drove in both runs in the triumph.
Brett Oberholtzer (5-12) allowed two runs on seven hits over 7 2/3 frames for Houston.
Cleveland plated a run in the fourth and another in the sixth for the game's only runs.
Carlos Santana hit a two-out double in the fourth and Gomes followed with a single to center to bring him home. In the sixth, Michael Brantley bunted for a single with one out and Gomes' triple two batters later plated him for a 2-0 Cleveland advantage.
Jose Altuve had both hits for the Astros, but was stranded at third in the fourth and at second in the ninth.
