Report: Pablo Sandoval seeking $100M deal, but wants to stay in San Francisco

Pablo Sandoval, an impending free agent, is expected to command a deal worth close to $100 million this offseason, but the 28-year-old isn't eager to leave San Francisco after winning his third World Series championship with the Giants earlier this week.

"He loves the city. He loves the team. He loves the fans," agent Gustavo Vazquez told CBS Sports' Jon Heyman. "And he wants to stay."

Sandoval was reportedly seeking a five-year contract worth "at least" $100 million back in April, but the Giants appeared unwilling to offer the two-time All-Star such a lengthy deal. Though the club reportedly offered Sandoval a three-year deal worth roughly $40 million during spring training, contract discussions fizzled in recent months.

"We have a good track record of getting our guys back, and Pablo is one of our own," Bobby Evans, the Giants' assistant GM, texted Heyman on the way to the World Series parade Friday in San Francisco.

Sandoval, who signed with the Giants as an amateur free agent in 2003, has spent his entire career in San Francisco, and manager Bruce Bochy is among those optimistic he continues his career with the Giants.

"As far as what happens, I don't know. It's obvious I love this kid," Bochy said after the World Series. "I've had him since he came up, and hopefully things get done."
