The Chicago White Sox fortified their outfield depth Monday afternoon, claiming J.B. Shuck off waivers from the Cleveland Indians, the team announced.
Selected in the sixth round of the 2008 draft, Shuck appeared in 129 games for the Los Angeles Angels two seasons ago before laboring through a disastrous 2014 campaign. The 27-year-old hit .167/.195/.250 over 22 games for the Angels this past season before getting designated for assignment Sept. 2 and subsequently traded to the Indians three days later.
Over parts of three seasons in the majors, Shuck is hitting .264/.307/.333 (82 OPS+) with four home runs and 12 stolen bases in 204 games.
