Report: Rockies' qualifying offer to Cuddyer kills Mets' interest

The cost for outfielder Michael Cuddyer has reportedly exceeded what the New York Mets are willing to spend.
Following the Colorado Rockies' somewhat surprising decision to extend Cuddyer a $15.3-million qualifying offer Monday, Marc Carig of Newsday reported the Mets have little interest in losing the draft pick they'll have to forfeit in order to sign the 35-year-old.
The Mets, who are hoping to acquire a right-handed-hitting corner outfielder with power, had discussions about Cuddyer because of the likeliness he would command a shorter contract.
In 49 games in 2014, the 14-year veteran hit .332/.376/.579 with 10 home runs and 31 RBIs but missed the bulk of the season with thigh and shoulder injuries.
