Report: Josh Johnson talking to 5-6 teams
Josh Johnson has thrown 81 1/3 innings over the last two seasons, but it doesn't mean his options are limited in free agency.
The right-hander is currently talking to five or six teams, though the San Diego Padres remain Johnson's first choice, according to Dennis Lin of U-T San Diego.
After signing a one-year, $8-million deal last November with San Diego, Johnson suffered an elbow injury in spring training that resulted in his second Tommy John surgery. The Padres had the ability to exercise a $4-million option for 2015 if Johnson made less than seven starts. Though they declined the option, the two sides were reportedly working on a deal to bring the 30-year-old back.
The two-time All-Star has struggled over the past three seasons as he's battled poor performances and injuries. Since 2012, Johnson owns a 10-22 record and 4.52 ERA over 47 starts with both the Miami Marlins and Toronto Blue Jays.
