Report: Sandoval considering contract offers, will decide next week

The winner of the Pablo Sandoval sweepstakes will be revealed soon.

The three-time World Series champion is taking the weekend to mull over contract offers and should make a decision next week, Sandoval's brother and co-agent Michael Sandoval told told Gordon Edes of ESPNBoston.com.

The Boston Red Sox have reportedly tabled a five-year, $95-million offer, but the San Diego Padres and San Francisco Giants are also in the mix. The Toronto Blue Jays expressed interest early, but it faded after they signed catcher Russell Martin.

Giants assistant general manager Bobby Evans took to the airwaves Sunday, and believes all of the offers to Sandoval are in the five-year, $90-100 million range, which should give San Francisco an edge. Evans also revealed the Giants have not made a final offer to Sandoval, so there may be more room for negotiation.

The 28-year-old is the top third-base option on the open market and is coming off an impressive campaign in which he hit .279 with 16 home runs and 73 RBIs.
