The Chicago Cubs received some positive news Friday afternoon regarding reliever Pedro Strop, who was involved in a car accident Thursday in his native Dominican Republic.

Strop required just three to four stitches in his left elbow following the collision in San Cristobal, and X-rays came back negative, according to Eduardo A. Encina of the Baltimore Sun.

Strop, who was reportedly traveling with a companion after leaving a party, enjoyed a solid season with the Cubs in 2014, managing a 2.21 ERA and 1.07 WHIP over 65 relief appearances.
