Veteran backup catcher Drew Butera will know longer be wearing Dodger Blue, but he'll still be playing his baseball in Los Angeles.

The Los Angeles Angels acquired the 31-year-old from the Los Angeles Dodgers in exchange for a player to be named later or cash, the team announced Tuesday.

Butera appeared in 61 games for the Dodgers last season, slashing .188/.267/.288 with three home runs and 14 RBIs. The right-handed hitter owns a career .183/.239/.268 line with eight home runs and 27 doubles in 251 games.

"His defensive skill set is awesome," Angels general manager Jerry Dipoto told Mike DiGiovanna of the Los Angeles Times. "Can really catch, throw, he's energetic, calls a good game."

The Angels were in the market for a backup catcher after dealing Hank Conger to the Houston Astros earlier in the offseason.
