White Sox's Ventura on 0-4 start: 'These guys are trying to do way too much'
The high aspirations on Chicago's South Side this season have been quieted a little following the White Sox's 0-4 start to begin the season.
After being swept in the opening series by the Kansas City Royals, the White Sox were beaten 6-0 at home Friday by the lowly Minnesota Twins - a team that scored one run in their first three games to start the year.
White Sox hitters are batting a combined .183/.227/.300 with 27 strikeouts and manager Robin Ventura is attributing his team's struggles to his players trying too hard.
"That's where you're forcing it," Ventura told reporters. "Just play the game, let the game come to you. When you get through it, you're going to be better off. That's the feeling I get.
"These guys are trying to do way too much. Maybe believing in the hype, but in the end they are good players. You want to see the runs, the hitting and all that, but right now it's tough."
Should the White Sox not get their first win of the season Saturday, they'll have an excellent opportunity the following day as ace Chris Sale makes his season debut.
