Brewers' Gomez aiming to return this weekend
Milwaukee Brewers outfielder Carlos Gomez expects to be activated from the disabled list this weekend after missing two weeks with a small tear in his right hamstring.
Gomez, who received a cortisone shot earlier this month in an effort to speed up the recovery, is eligible to come off the 15-day DL on Thursday.
"I'm going to tell you this: I think Saturday for sure," Gomez told reporters Wednesday. "Because I'm tired of watching.
"I feel fine to play to my level. I think it's tough because we've got a day off and then play. After you come through an injury, it's tough to play right away (after a day off). I don't think it's good for you."
Gomez's return will be a shot in the arm for the last-place Brewers, who currently own the worst-record in the majors at 5-17.
The Brewers begin a three-game set Friday against the Chicago Cubs at Wrigley Field.
