Nationals' Strasburg has next start bumped to Tuesday
Washington Nationals right-hander Stephen Strasburg is no longer dealing with pain in his shoulder, but the team still plans to push his next scheduled start back a day.
Strasburg was originally set to open a three-game series with the Arizona Diamondbacks on Monday, however, Max Scherzer will take his place.
Strasburg will take the ball for the second game on Tuesday.
The 2014 NL strikeout co-leader was removed from his last start after three innings with discomfort under his shoulder blade, which he believes was caused by him overcompensating for an ankle injury suffered in spring training.
"Stephen knows his body very well and when he told me after he came out that it was nothing serious, I was pretty good with it," general manager Mike Rizzo told Chelsea Janes of the Washington Post. "Then when he saw the doctors, it wasn't much fear that it was something worse. We felt good about it."
Strasburg has battled through six starts this season, going 2-3 with a 4.73 ERA and 1.60 WHIP, while striking out 32 in 32 1/3 innings.
