Mariners activate Jackson from DL
The Seattle Mariners are hoping the return of Austin Jackson will help bring some consistency to what has become a revolving door in center field.
Jackson was activated from the 15-day disabled list on Monday and will rejoin the team Tuesday after being sidelined since May 4 with an ankle sprain.
The 28-year-old has struggled since being acquired from the Detroit Tigers at last season's trade deadline, and is hitting .242/.294/.326 with two home runs and 19 strikeouts in 25 games this season.
Seattle has used Justin Ruggiano, Dustin Ackley and Brad Miller at center since Jackson's injury, with each getting a start at the position over the last four games.
In a corresponding move, the Mariners optioned reliever Danny Farquhar to Triple-A Tacoma. The right-hander was 0-3 with a 6.46 ERA in 23 2/3 innings.
