Corey Kluber whiffs 13 Mariners over 7 innings to continue torrid strikeout pace
Corey Kluber is a man determined to turn his and his team's season around.
The reigning American League Cy Young Award winner continued his torrid strikeout pace Thursday night in Seattle, sitting down 13 Mariners in a 5-3 Cleveland victory.
Here's a look at his pitching line:
IP | H | ER | BB | K | PC |
---|---|---|---|---|---|
7 | 7 | 3 | 1 | 13 | 112 |
It's the 17th time in his career - and fourth this year - he's recorded at least 10 strikeouts in game. Even more impressive, Kluber has amassed a whopping 50 whiffs while issuing only a pair of walks over his last four starts (32 innings pitched). His 96 strikeouts lead the majors with Max Scherzer a distant second with 85.

The Indians have now won eight of their last 10 games to move within three games of the .500 mark.
