Alex Rodriguez continues his ascent up the all-time leaderboards.
With his RBI double in a 5-4 loss to the Washington Nationals on Wednesday, Rodriguez closed in on the illustrious 3,000-hit club after going hitless in 11 previous at-bats.
The New York Yankees slugger, who is also two RBIs shy of 2,000, is now eight hits shy of reaching the mark.
If A-Rod reaches 3,000, he'll not only be a part of an exclusive club, but he'll also tie Pittsburgh Pirates legend Roberto Clemente.
