Kershaw, deGrom, Archer named MLB players of the week
Major League Baseball announced three recipients of weekly awards Monday.
Clayton Kershaw and Jacob deGrom are the National League Co-Players of the Week for June 1-7, while Chris Archer has earned American League honors.
Kershaw and deGrom posted identical numbers last week, going 2-0 with a 1.20 ERA while striking out 18 in 15 innings pitched.
Archer was an easy choice in the AL after recording two wins with a 0.60 ERA and amassing 26 strikeouts over 15 innings of work. The Tampa Bay Rays right-hander has recorded three straight double-digit strikeout performances and has allowed one earned run or fewer over his last five outings.
Josh Donaldson (Toronto Blue Jays) and Todd Frazier (Cincinnati Reds) were the previous week's recipients of the awards.
