VIDEO: Feisty catcher throws 2 huge elbows in high school softball game
At certain Texas high schools, apparently, softball coaches encourage their catchers to protect the plate by any means necessary, even in instances where there isn't a play at the plate.
On Saturday, for instance, Needville catcher Megan Crosby dropped a pair of vicious elbows on two unsuspecting Huffman Hargrave baserunners as they headed for the plate during a five-run fifth inning in the Class 4A State Championship game.
Crosby's antics, though, went for naught. Not only did her team fall, 6-4, in the state final, but one of her victims, Demi Janak, seemed rather unfazed after getting leveled by the feisty junior.
"She did what she wanted to do in order to try and keep us from scoring, but it doesn't matter to me because we won overall," Janak told Samantha Ptashkin from Click2Houston.com.
