The Washington Nationals didn't waste any time setting off some early fireworks on Madison Bumgarner and the San Francisco Giants on Independence Day.
After Michael Taylor opened the bottom of the first inning with a solo homer, Bryce Harper, using a patriotic bat, unloaded a two-run shot on Bumgarner to give the Nats a 3-0 advantage.

Harper's 25th blast also helped him reach the 60-RBIs plateau for the first time in his young career. He finished 3-for-4 with a walk and two runs scored to complement the homer.
The Nationals opened the game with four straight hits off Bumgarner, who may be reeling from the early 11:30 a.m. ET start.
