Yankees' Miller expects to pitch in rehab game before returning from forearm strain

Andrew Miller is inching closer to a return from a forearm strain, but wants some fine-tuning before rejoining the New York Yankees.

"I certainly expect to pitch in a rehab game," Miller told MLB.com's Alden Woods on Saturday. "I think that's important, for me at least, get out there and get something as close to game speed as possible. It's been a while for me."

Miller has been on the disabled list since June 10 with the injury, and threw a 30-pitch bullpen session Saturday morning without discomfort. It's unclear how many rehab appearances Miller may need or what his exact timetable for a return is.

Dellin Betances has been filling in as the team's closer, but Miller should assume the role upon returning after converting all 17 of his save opportunities prior to getting hurt.

"We have a couple closers down there," manager Joe Girardi said about his bullpen situation once Miller is back. "I anticipate we'd just put him back down there and go from there."
