With the bases loaded in the eighth inning of a tie game and Home Run Derby champion Todd Frazier at the plate, the Chicago Cubs needed a break to split their Wednesday doubleheader against the Cincinnati Reds.
The break came as Frazier slapped a comebacker that deflected off the back of pitcher Hector Rondon and straight into the glove of first baseman Anthony Rizzo, who made a heads-up play to get the out at home.
Jay Bruce then flew out to end the inning.
Rizzo, who later scored the winning run for the Cubs in the ninth, had this to say about Rondon after the game.
Rizzo on crazy Rondon play: “We play FIFA all the time in the clubhouse. I always tell him to pass and he never passes. He finally (did)."
