Angels win season-high 7th straight as Street secures 300th save
Huston Street waited two weeks for an opportunity to notch his 300th career save. Such is life when you close games for the hottest team in baseball.
Street became the 27th pitcher in major-league history to reach the milestone after pitching a scoreless ninth Wednesday for his 25th save of the season in the Los Angeles Angels' 5-2 win over the Minnesota Twins. At 31 years and 354 days old, Street's the second-youngest pitcher to secure 300 saves.
"This number is motivating for me," Street told reporters after the game. "It definitely is substantial when you look at the history of the game, how many people have done it. At the same time, I'm 31 years old, I believe I'm in an organization that has a chance to win this year, the next year and a lot more after that."

Street hadn't pitched since recording his 24th save July 8 because of a minor groin injury, the All-Star break, and the Angels' recent run of dominance.
Wednesday's victory was the club's season-high seventh in a row, and matched a team record for the best 20-game stretch (17-3) in franchise history. The Angels have outscored their opponents 44-9 during their current winning streak.
The latest victory, however, came at a cost. Third baseman David Freese expects to miss about three weeks with a non-displaced fracture of his right index finger, which he suffered during a hit by pitch in the fourth inning.
