Clayton Kershaw is proving Zack Greinke isn't the only Los Angeles Dodgers hurler that can execute a run of dominance.

Kershaw extended his scoreless innings streak to 29 with a complete-game shutout - his second in his last three starts - in a 3-0 win over the New York Mets on Thursday.

The southpaw took a perfect game into the seventh inning, but Curtis Granderson spoiled the effort with a leadoff single.

"Once the seventh inning rolls around, it's time that it could be possible and didn't last very long," Kershaw said. "Not a whole lot of nerves. If you don't do it, so what, but if you do, it's pretty exciting."

Kershaw had retired 18 straight batters - eight of them via strikeout - and entered the seventh having only thrown 62 pitches. Naturally, opposing pitcher Bartolo Colon was one of Kershaw's 11 strikeout victims.

Kershaw has been electric over his last three outings, becoming the first pitcher since 1900 with three straight starts allowing no runs, walking none, and claiming at least 10 strikeouts in each appearance.

July 23 Mets 9 3 0 11
July 18 Nationals 8 3 0 14
July 8 Phillies 9 8 0 13

Greinke is riding a 43 2/3 innings scoreless streak, meaning the opposition has failed to score on the duo in a combined 72 2/3 frames. Their combined numbers since June 23 are staggering.

"I don't compete against my teammates, it's hard enough to get guys out," Kershaw added. "But, yeah I'm trying to copy Zack for sure, the way he's throwing. ... I'm just trying not to lower the bar at all when I'm out there."
