Dan Haren tweets goodbye to baseball
The door was slammed shut on the Chicago Cubs' season with an 8-3 loss in Game 4 of the NLCS to the New York Mets on Wednesday night, and it also brought a close to right-hander Dan Haren's 13-year career in the majors.
Haren, who announced he intended to retire following the 2015 campaign in early October, took to Twitter to bid farewell to the game.
Thank you baseball. I played this beautiful game for 30 years. I took my jersey off for the last time tonight. It was an honor. #ithrew88

The three-time All-Star was acquired by the Cubs at the July 31 non-waiver trade deadline, and also enjoyed stints with the Miami Marlins, Los Angeles Dodgers, Washington Nationals, Los Angeles Angels, Arizona Diamondbacks, Oakland Athletics, and St. Louis Cardinals.
Haren, 35, finishes his career with a very respectable 153-131 record, 3.75 ERA, and 1.21 WHIP.
