Free-agent Murphy would 'like to come back' to the Mets
Daniel Murphy went from hero to zero following his devastating Game 4 error, but the pending free agent is hoping he hasn't played his last game with the organization.
"This organization's been great to me. I feel blessed to have been a Met this long. I like it here. I'd like to come back, but we'll have to see," Murphy said postgame.
The New York Mets second baseman wielded a hot bat of epic proportions through the first two rounds of the playoffs, belting a record-breaking seven homers - including in six consecutive games - while driving in 11 runs.
Murphy's bat went cold, though, in the Fall Classic, going 3-for-20 (.150) with seven strikeouts. His World Series experience was punctuated by a horrific error in Game 4, which ultimately put New York in a 3-1 hole in the seven-game series.

Murphy is expected to command a long-term contract this winter in excess of the $8-million salary he earned this season.
