It may be spring training, but an inside-the-park home run is still a joy to watch and New York Mets infielder Dilson Herrera was responsible for one Friday.
With the Mets down by one entering the ninth inning against the Miami Marlins, Herrera smacked a drive to the left field fence that outfielder Tommy Medica lost track of. By the time he found the ball, Herrera had already jetted around the basepaths on his way to securing the game-tying run.
The contest would end in a 4-4 tie, while Herrera finished the day 2-for-2 with the home run, an RBI, and two runs scored.
Herrera, a 22-year-old Colombian, is fighting for a bench spot, but is projected to start the season in Triple-A.
