The U.S. women's Under-20 national team defeated Mexico in a dramatic come-from-behind 2-1 win on Friday, securing a spot in the semifinals of the 2016 FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup in France as a result.
But it was the scene immediately following the end of the match that provided the most emotion as a pair of twin sisters shared opposite fates at the final whistle.
Dual-nationality footballers Sabrina Flores and her twin sister Monica squared off against one another, as the former wore the red, white, and blue of the U.S. and the latter chose to represent Mexico.
Sabrina comforted Monica as she endured the pain of defeat, crossing the divide of country and competition to console her twin sister.
Touching stuff.
