Invicta fighter dons gear covered in Hannibal Buress' face
Outside of the UFC, fighters are free to embrace unique sponsorship opportunities and comedian Hannibal Buress has provided a doozy.
A noted MMA fanatic, Buress fell in love with the Invicta FC promotion after attending a show in January, according to Marc Raimondi of MMA Fighting. He was inspired to sponsor one of the fighters on the next show and after doing some research he chose undefeated Brazilian atomweight Janaisa Morandin.
As for how Buress' brand would be represented, apparently it was decided that Morandin would wear gear plastered with Buress' face.
"I think if I do it again, we'll make things more subtle," Buress told Raimondi. "But maybe my face all over the uniform distracts her opponent."
Unfortunately, Buress won't be able to see if his visage ends up spurring Morandin on to victory as she was unable to make weight on Friday for her fight at Invicta FC 22.
Her bout with Jinh Yu Frey was subsequently canceled.
