Dana White: 'Cowboy Cerrone is next in line for a title shot'

Donald Cerrone, the UFC lightweight division's foremost purveyor of ultraviolence, will finally get a crack at the title.

"'Cowboy' looked insanely good," UFC President Dana White told ESPN following Cerrone's TKO victory over John Makdessi at Saturday's UFC 187. "He kept his composure, put together combinations to the legs and head. He looked unbelievable. I will give you this, yes, Cowboy Cerrone is next in line for a title shot."

The win was Cerrone's eighth straight in the Octagon, with his last defeat coming via unanimous decision against current 155-pound kingpin Rafael dos Anjos way back in August of 2013.

Normally itching to get back into the Octagon as soon as humanly possible, Cerrone has decided to patiently wait for his eventual title bout with dos Anjos.

"I would love to wait," Cerrone said. "Well, I'll wait for Denver, Colorado. Can I say that? I'll wait for Denver, Colorado.

"I see a lot of 'Sunday Fun-days' in my future. I should be all right."
