Report: MMA won't be legalized in New York this year

For yet another year, MMA will not be legalized in New York.

According to multiple reports, a bill that sought to legalize the sport in The Empire State will not be brought to a vote in the state assembly despite passing through the senate.

UFC president Dana White didn't mince words when making his opinion of the result known:

This marks the eighth-straight year a bill legalizing MMA will not be brought to a vote in New York. For fans of the sport, this year's familiar result may sting a little more because some of the main impediments to the bill passing were recently removed.

Alas, the hope has once again turned to disappointment.

Supporters of legalizing MMA events in New York said doing so would generate around $70 million for the state's economy.

New York is the only state with a ban on professional MMA events.
