REPORT: Edwards turns down 2015 Childress ride
Over the weekend, FOX Sports’ Bob Dilner reported that Carl Edwards spoke with Richard Childress about joining RCR in 2015, and Edwards declined the offer.
Edwards, who is currently at Roush Fenway Racing, is a free agent at the end of the season. While nothing has been officially announced, speculation is that Edwards will be leaving the team.
Reports last week stated that Edwards' current teammate Greg Biffle will be staying put at Roush alongside Ricky Stenhouse Jr., and new teammate in 2015, Trevor Bayne.
We reported last week that Roger Penske said that he has no interest in signing Carl Edwards because he couldn’t see them having enough funds and sponsorship to support a third team.
Right now, the rumors are that Edwards will join Joe Gibbs Racing as a 4th car, alongside Kyle Busch, Denny Hamlin and Matt Kenseth. JGR has been quiet throughout Edwards’ contract negotiations.
