LeBron all for Warriors setting mark: 'Records are meant to be broken'
LeBron James, the fan, wants to see the Golden State Warriors win out and set the new NBA regular-season wins record of 73.
"Records are meant to be broken," James said Saturday, according to ESPN's Dave McMenamin. "You have rushing records that are broken. You have home run records that are broken. You have 100-yard dash (times) that are broken."
The Warriors need to win their final three regular-season contests against two opponents - the Memphis Grizzlies and San Antonio Spurs.
"You actually praise it even more," James said. "You look back at it like, 'Wow, they really did that?' So having Golden State in a position where if they win three in a row they can break that record, I think it's pretty cool."
The chase for regular-season history has come with much hand-wringing as to whether the Warriors are doing so at the expense of possible fresher legs in the postseason. Last year, when the Warriors reached the NBA Finals against James' Cleveland Cavaliers, they'd played 15 postseason games. LeBron almost single-handedly carried the Cavs to two wins against them as Golden State prevailed in six games.
