Report: Nets likely to go after Messina, Blatt as head coach
Newly hired Brooklyn Nets general manager Sean Marks has yet to make his mark with his new team, something that will almost certainly change this summer.
With Tony Brown the Nets interim coach, Marks must soon decide whether to keep Brown, or hire his own candidate as bench boss.
One name the Nets are considering is the San Antonio Spurs' Ettore Messina, The New York Post's Brian Lewis reports. After establishing a Hall of Fame career in Europe, Messina was hired by the Spurs in 2014, serving as an assistant coach to Gregg Popovich over the last couple years.
Marks will reportedly hire someone he has a relationship with, making Messina a logical fit given their time in San Antonio together.
Ex-Cleveland Cavaliers head coach David Blatt is also reportedly considered a likely contender, given his relationship with team owner Mikhail Prokhorov.
