George blames Valanciunas for scuffle: 'Jonas was throwing his elbows'
Indiana Pacers superstar Paul George has a very simple explanation for why he got into the face of Toronto Raptors center Jonas Valanciunas.
The two made a scene in the dying moments of Game 4 when George sought out Valanciunas following a free throw. The confrontation drew a crowd and both players picked up technicals.
"All night, Jonas was throwing his elbows and flinging his elbows and trying to lock arms, and it was almost the play before where he did the same thing and I let it slide and Ian (Mahinmi) shot a free throw," George said.
"I crashed in and tried to get the rebound and next thing you know his hands once again are coming up toward my throat. I didn't like that."
Valanciunas disagrees. He said any contact was incidental.
"I wasn't trying to hit him. It just happened," he said.
