Report: Nike inks multi-year deal with Buddy Hield
Nike continues to lock down its potential NBA spokesmen of the future, reportedly inking a deal with another top prospect in the upcoming draft.
Oklahoma guard Buddy Hield, the 2015-16 Naismith College Player of the Year, has agreed to a multi-year endorsement deal with Nike, according to The Vertical's Nick DePaula.
Nike inked projected No. 1 pick Ben Simmons to a deal earlier in the week, and is looking to do the same with several other lottery prospects in the lead-up to the June 23 draft.
Most mock drafts currently have Hield being selected in the No. 3-8 range. In his award-winning senior season with the Sooners, he averaged 25 points, 5.7 rebounds, and two assists, while shooting 50.1 percent from the field and 45.7 percent from 3-point range. He led the Big 12 in virtually every offensive category, including points per game, made free throws, 3-point makes and percentage, usage rate, and true shooting.
DePaula reports that Adidas, in an effort to compete with Nike, has upped its offers to prospects in the coming draft, compared to previous years.
