Report: Grizzlies interested in Chandler Parsons
The Memphis Grizzlies might try to sign free-agent point forward Chandler Parsons away from the Dallas Mavericks, ESPN's Marc Stein reports.
As it happens, the Mavericks are reportedly interested in Mike Conley, who the Grizzlies remain confident that they can re-sign. Making forays at Parsons could be seen as a tactic to hold off the Mavericks' pursuit.
Memphis only has six guaranteed contracts on their books for the 2016-17 season and would have plenty of room to accommodate Conley and Parsons - although both players will likely cost the maximum.
Conley's maximum would start at $26 million, while Parsons could earn up to $22 million next season.
The 27-year-old Parsons declined his $16-million player option with the Mavericks to enter free agency. He averaged 13.7 points and 4.7 rebounds in 29.5 minutes per game last year, while shooting 41.4 percent from deep.
However, he's coming off two knee surgeries within the span of a year and only managed to make 61 appearances last season.
