The Dallas Mavericks have agreed to a four-year, $37-plus million deal with restricted free agent Dwight Powell, The Verticals' Shams Charania reports, with a player option for the fourth season.
Powell enjoyed a solid season with the Mavericks in 2015-16, averaging 14.5 points, 9.9 rebounds, and 1.3 steals per 35 minutes. The 24-year-old played in just 14.4 minutes per game last season, but will likely see his role expanded after inking a multi-year contract.
After whiffing on several big names early in free agency, Dallas appears to have shifted their focus towards landing younger talent, as they reportedly plan to offer Harrison Barnes a max-level contract next week.
